The Japanese filmmaker Sabu started his career as a singer and musician, became an actor and later on director of absurd slapstick movies. ‘Monday’ is a hilaric and cynical search for the direct past, in which Sabu balances on the threshold of memory and dreams. The story begins with the shot of a man who wakes up in a hotel room with a terrible hangover. The question is: how did he get there. Bit by bit his memories come back, shown in flashbacks. At a hilaric deathwatch the body of the deceased is torn open to remove the pacemaker. Sequences in the nightclub follow with meetings with a yakuza, a gangster love, alcohol, more alcohol and a rifle that goes off by accident.
