In many ways this film is Cronenbergs first personal movie. After the financial successes of SHIVERS (1975) and RABID (1977) he was able put a more personal touch on his work. The story is about Frank and his wife Nola. She stays in a mental home of doctor Hal Raglan to deal with her violent youth. Frank takes care of their daughter Candice. Everything seems well, until Frank’s mother is being murdered by a dwarf. Such creapy creatures keep making victims. It seems that doctor Raglan knows more about this.
