With his official debut David Cronenberg immediately showed he is there. An apartment complex is threatened by a bizarre epidemic. A medical experiment, leads to an extreme orgy of sex and violence. The deranged professor wants to bring humanity back to it's essence: a sex obsessed zombie. He tries to achieve that by creating a special bacteria, but when he test it on a young girl everything goes wrong. Cronenberg is master in sleazy scenes, but at the same time he urges the viewer to think about the possible dangers of science.
