Being pretty is a crime in the 23rd centrury. Models do not exist anymore and make-up is banned. Whenever you look a bit attractive you get beaten up with a bat. A group of female rebels, that see themselves as victims of the 23rd century, fight for the right to be beautiful. Helen is a prioncess given in marriage to a congreesman. Hereby she looses the luxury to take care of her face which she can not accept. She flees from the castle to find Diana, the blue haired captain of the rebellious group. Helen feels exactly what beauty is and whta the rebels stand for. This is a thorn in the side of Gabriel (pronounced as Gaybriel), who wants to get rid of her. The film is a very colourful trash fairy tale with a lot of satire, in which our with beauty obsessed society is being made ridiculous. We are treated with glamorous costumes and sets that refer to movies as “The wiizard of Oz”, “Barabrella” and “Flash Gordon”. A fine finish of the BUTFF 2008.
