In the night of Friday the 28th of September to Saturday the 29th of September, film collector, teacher, author and underderground specialist Jack Stevenson hosts the program Totally Uncensored, In this program, he tells in a florid manner how the Scandinavian sex cinema conquered the world.

At the end of the '60s, the Scandinavian erotic cinema was virtually unknown. In just a few years time, however, this changed, the result of which was that especially Danish and Swedish films were good for full houses all over the world. By means of clips from legendary and obscure gems from the 50's, 60's and 70's, Jack Stevenson makes clear how this was possible.

What, among other things, will come up concretely for discussion in this program? Jack Stevenson summarizes it as follows: "Revolutionary things were happening in American (and British) film culture in the late 60's and early 70's as censorship barriers fell seemingly day by day, and Scandinavian cinema played a central role in this battle for screen freedom. Films like I, A Woman, I Am Curious (Yellow) and many others attracted crowds, generated massive press and figured in high-profile court cases, helping to set in motion the wider sexual revolution.
In this lecture/screening presentation I will outline the evolution of postwar Scandinavian erotic cinema in broad strokes, from the Swedish naturalist films of the 50's up to the early 70's when the effects of Denmark's abolition of censorship came to the fore and placed the focus on that country. Based on my book Totally Uncensored! The Wild World of Scandinavian Sex Cinema - the Myth, the Movies, the Happenings.

The entire lecture with clips and Q&A can run from 2 to 2.5 hours.
Clips will be shown of such films as One Summer of Happiness (1951), Summer With Monika (1953), Weekend (1962), The Silence (1963), I, A Woman (1965), Gift (1966), I, A Nobleman (1967), Inga (1968), Without A Stitch (1968), Quiet Days in Clichy (1970), The Daughter: I, a Woman Part III (1970), Christa: Swedish Fly Girls (1971) and Senta: Danish Pastry (1972).
Salient detail: Summer With Monika and The Silence were made by someone who is seen as one of the great among the filmmakers: Ingmar Bergman, who passed away on the 30th of July of this year.
