Fred Vogel was born on the 18th of April 1976 in Warren, New Jersey. He is the director and co-owner of the film production company Toe Tag Pictures.

In 2001 he made his film debut with the first entry in the August Underground trilogy. In every part from this series we follow the daily lives of two sadistic serial killers. This happens through the home movies they make of the victims they torture and kill. The films became notorious as quick as you could say �Toe Tag� aloud. And soon the rumour was spread that it was real snuff. Of course this isn�t true, but it can be seen as a compliment regarding the power and feel of authenticity of the August Underground films.

In 2004 Vogel made a documentary on the rock/shock band Necrophagia entitled Necrophagia: Sickness.
In 2006 he tried his hand at a more narrative-driven, but nevertheless at moments pretty terrifying feature called The Redsin Tower, which can also be seen during the festival. This production shows a different, more restrained side of Vogel and the other members of Toe Tag Pictures.
After this, Vogel had FX duties on Nick Palumbo�s Murder-Set-Pieces � also a controversial film that provoked heated discussions.

Vogel also played himself in the opening film of the 2006 edition of the BUT Film Festival, S&Man. In this fake documentary, director JT Petty (who was a guest at last year�s festival) studies real questions concerning what attracts people to films in which people are supposedly tortured and killed. What if what you were watching was no special effect but perhaps a real murder? Think about that when watch the August Underground trilogy.
